The Devatas are the guardians of light and life. They are the sons of the primal sage Kashyapa, a manifestation of Brahma, and his wife Aditti. Aditti&#8217;s first-born was Indra. He became the leader of the Devatas and the god of rain. Her last-born was Vishnu; he became the champion of the gods. The other Devas are: Agni, the god of fire; Vayu, the god of wind; Varuna, the god of the sea; Yama, the god of death.
